Ranchi University

Ranchi University came into existence in the year 1960 in Ranchi, the present capital of Jharkhand as a teaching cum affiliated University with the objective to promote higher education to the people of the region.

The total student intake is of around 90,000 (including the affiliated colleges). Its central library contains approximately 15,000 books for the academic needs of the students and the faculties. There are total of 2 boys’ hostels and 4 girls’ hostel in the university campus.

The Ranchi University has carved a niche for itself in every strata of education whether it is sports, cultural activities or mainstream academia. It has made its presence felt both at national and international level. Regular cultural activities at the college and the university are an integral part of the universities academic calendar.

The University provides special care for the underprivileged students and undertakes innovative steps to make them realize that they can be a part of the developing world if they engage themselves with positive attitude to everything they embark upon.
